Alhambra
The Alhambra is an Andalusian palace complex in Granada. Etymologically, Alhambra means ‘the Red’ in Arabic, since its full name was Qalʿat al-ḥamrā'ʾ the full meaning would be: Red Citadel.
According to some versions, the name came from the pinkish colour of the walls that surrounded the Alhambra. The Alhambra is a true walled city (medina) occupying most of the Sabika hill, while for its part Granada enjoyed another system of protective walls. Therefore, the Alhambra could function autonomously from Granada. In the Alhambra there were all the proper services necessary for the inhabitants living there: mosques, schools, shops and more.
Sadly, several years have passed since my visit to this beautiful place, but the memory it left me will be indelible forever. That is why I decided to compose a CD about this fabulous complex.

Sounds: After years I return to using classical guitar, indispensable when it comes to Spain. I use a lot of percussion, strings and, above all, ethical Arabic sounds. |
Style: Spain and the Middle East are the two fundamental matrices of this work. |
